Pula, a seafront city on the tip of Croatia’s Istrian Peninsula, is known for its protected harbor, beach-lined coast, and Roman ruins.
The Amphitheater, also known as the Arena of Pula, is the most famous and important monument in the city. It was once used for gladiator fights and is now a popular starting and ending point for sightseeing tours. During the summer months, the Arena hosts weekly gladiator fights as part of the historical and entertainment spectacle called "Spectacvla Antiqva".
Today, the Pula Arena hosts a variety of events including the Pula Film Festival, concerts, opera, ballet, and sports competitions. Its capacity is about 5,000 spectators.
